This is a two-day tournament.Entry fee is $300.00 per day.Anglers can elect to fish one or both days.Tags will be provided during the Captains Meeting, August 13th, 2020.
Boats must register before 7:00 pm prior to the first day of eligibility in the tournament. Registration fee allows for a crew of (4) anglers.Any additional anglers, the team will be charged an additional $50.00 per person.
All fish must be brought to our official weigh station within the allotted time each day of fishing to qualify for a tournament fish.Weigh Station will be open from 1:00 p.m until 5:00 p.m. daily.The weigh station will close 5 p.m sharp! (Note:Anglers need to be in line before 5:00 p.m for the fish to be accepted).Weigh Station Location: Cutty Sark Marina (4707 Pretty Lake Ave, Norfolk, VA 23518).Fish can be brought by boat or vehicle.Make sure you present your tags/token when bringing fish to the scale.
Lines in at 5 a.m each day of the event. (NOTE: No bait or chum is allowed in the water until 5 a.m! You can set anchor but DO NOT start fishing).
Fishing is restricted to federal and state waters in Virginia only. No cobia caught from any area outside of Virginia state waters may be entered into Bigman’s Cobia Bonanza.
All boats must adhere to the current fishing regulations even if they have licenses/permits allowing them to keep fish outside of the recreational size and creel limit during the Bigman’s Cobia Bonanza. NO ILLEGAL ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED.
Intentionally snagging or foul hooking cobia is strictly prohibited. Any cobia determined to have been intentionally snagged or foul hooked will be disqualified.
All fish must be caught on rod and reel.
All fish must be of legal limit to qualify for weigh in.
Bigman’s Cobia Bonanza is open to all anglers.
All fish may be subject to be drawn and washed for inspection after weighing with the exclusion of potential world records.
All weighing and recording of a fish must take place at one of our official weigh stations.
Weigh master reserves the right to disallow any fish based on altered weight or if the fish has spoiled, been mutilated, frozen or appears to have been frozen.
CULLING DEAD FISH IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED and is also a violation of state law.
All boats must have appropriate state licensees.
Boats must be recognized by the weigh master to be accepted as in on time.
Any or all prize winners and contestants may be subject to polygraph test. In the case of a failed polygraph test, participants will be disqualified from Bigman’s Cobia Bonanza.
Decision of the tournament committee is final. Violation of tournament rules will subject the vessel, captain, and/or angler to disqualification. In the event of disqualification, tournament entry fees will be forfeited.
Any protest must be made in writing within 24 hours from when the potential issue occurred and be accompanied by a $500 cash deposit. If protest is upheld, the deposit will be refunded. If the protest proves invalid, the deposit will be forfeited.
Prizes will be awarded at location: TBD.
All prize monies MUST be accepted and picked up by 9:00 pm August 15th, 2020 at location:Catch Fish & Chill Shop 1576 Aspin Street Norfolk, VA 23502.Prize winning fish shall be the heaviest by weight. In the event of a tie, the first fish recorded shall be declared the winner.
Payouts:$12,000 in Guarantee Prizes.Payouts are based on a minimum of 50 boats entered.Fewer boats entered will result in a percentage reduction of all prizes.

Facebook (FB) Live Raffle: Winner ($250) to validate the integrity of this event, we are encouraging all anglers to share FB LIVE videos while catching cobias during the event.Once you are hooked up, have an angler on the boat start a FB Live Video.All participants who share their live video on the “Bigman’s Cobia Bonanza FB Page” will have their boat entered into a raffle.Drawing will be held during the award ceremony.
